Who I am is not important. My words will rise or fall on their own merit. But given the nature of my discussions, it is appropriate to know where I come from.
I am a middle-aged, middle-class white guy. I grew up in the Midwest and have lived in California for the past twenty years. I have not faced any inspiring adversity. I claim no incredible breadth of experience or advanced education on the topics of life. If I am remarkable in any way, it’s that I’ve chosen to live a life guided by thought and reason in a world filled with passion and impulsiveness.
I am a scientist by training if not profession. I believe in no God and hold nothing sacred. I study the world that exists and the happenings of the past, and build my judgments based upon facts and observation. Rational thought guides me. Hope inspires me.
This blog is my corner of the internet and as such I make the rules. I enjoy engaging in debate but have little tolerance for vitriol or irrationality. This will be a place of tempered discussion and thoughtful words and I am the arbiter of all that comes and goes. My goal is simply to speak my mind. If I can learn and be enlightened, I welcome input. If others receive any benefit, I am happy for them but take no responsibility. You are free to share, free to question, free to leave. Do what feel rights to you.
